From the Metropolitan Museum of Art to national awards, exciting news from Dorothy Grant Studio. Celebrating Indigenous Fashion on the World Stage

Dear Friends,

As we move through another exciting season, I want to take a moment to share some remarkable milestones that have recently unfolded for Dorothy Grant Studio.

These honours are deeply meaningful to me because they recognize not only my work as a designer, but also the enduring strength, beauty, and innovation of Indigenous art and culture.

Honoured with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Ripple Award

I am humbled to have received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Ripple Award.

This recognition celebrates entrepreneurs whose work creates lasting impact within their communities and industries. Throughout my career, I have sought to build a business rooted in culture, creativity, and connection. Receiving this award is an honour that I share with everyone who has supported this journey.

National Recognition for Indigenous Fashion Design

I am also honoured to have received a Canadian Arts and Fashion Award recognizing my contributions as an Indigenous fashion designer.

For more than four decades, I have dedicated my work to bringing Indigenous design, storytelling, and Haida artistic traditions into contemporary fashion. This recognition reflects the growing appreciation for Indigenous voices and creativity within Canada's fashion landscape.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Acquires the Shark Robe

One of the most exciting moments this year has been the acquisition of my Shark Robe by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

To have this piece welcomed into the permanent collection of one of the world's most respected museums is profoundly meaningful. The Shark Robe carries cultural stories, artistic traditions, and generations of Indigenous knowledge. I am honoured that these stories will continue to be shared with audiences from around the world.

Featured in The Fabric of America

I am equally proud to share that my work has been included in The Fabric of America exhibition at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

This exhibition recognizes individuals whose contributions have helped shape the story of fashion and design in North America. To be included among these influential voices is both inspiring and affirming.

Thank You

None of these accomplishments would be possible without your continued support.

Whether you have worn one of my garments, attended an exhibition, shared my work with others, or simply followed this journey, you have helped make these milestones possible.

Together we continue to demonstrate that Indigenous fashion is not only an expression of culture and identity, but an enduring and influential force in the world of art and design.

With gratitude,

Dorothy Grant
