Dorothy Grant's Vintage Scarves Collection

Dorothy's garments have been described as a site of intersection. They are a creative space
where fashion meets Haida art, myth and history. Like art, fashion should not be stagnant, but
be constantly moving to convey a contemporary culture.

DG Foam Woman Scarf”

Dorothy has reinvented this design South East Wind & Foam Woman. Her new scarf is now made of 100% Silk Satin to give it a more luxurious look. This design is one of Dorothy's favorites, she ahs transformed it from a button robe to an elegant scarf dress to an everyday wearable scarf.

This image comes from a legend which originates from Haida Gwaii. The Haida have long believed that all life came from the ocean. "Foam Woman" is the unforeseen power of that ocean, tossing in the waves and creating her foam to let her presence be known. Traditional Haida colors of red/black were chosen for one scarf, and blue/green symbolizing the ocean was chosen for the other scarf.

In 1996, Dorothy Grant's former partner (who wants to remain anonymous) granted her copyright, to share with the world.

The colour is:

Navy Turquoise Cream

Printed with 100% Silk Satin.
