Cedar Box Drum

This box is Painted and designed by one of NWC artist finest painters and designer, David Boxley Jr.All the painting is done by hand, front side 2 finned Killerwhale and back side bear design, inside is Raven artwork.  The  bentwood drum box is used in potlatches and long houses for dances and welcome ceremonies.  It can be hung from a post with a rope attached, so as to free the singers hands for drumming.  The sound is a dramatic baratone echo.  these pieces are very rare, and takes hours to make, by steam bending and care manipulation of the wood, so as to get a smooth finish for the artwork.  this is a one of kind piece
