May 1 – October 27, 2026
Raven Comes Full Circle is my traveling retrospective exhibition, first launched at the Haida Gwaii Museum in July 2024 and now on view at the Alaska State Museum in Juneau. This return to Alaska carries a deep personal resonance for me. I grew up in Ketchikan, and as a young girl I often traveled to Juneau — babysitting, visiting relatives, and wandering the halls of the state museum. Those early visits shaped my artistic life in ways I only understand now.
I remember standing in front of the hand‑carved shark earrings, completely mesmerized. Seeing them again during this exhibition brought back a flood of childhood memories. And now, 55 years later, my own work is on these same museum walls. This is Raven, our Trickster, showing me a true full‑circle moment.
The exhibition brings together garments from across my 45‑year career — button robes, contemporary leather jackets, couture gowns, woven hats, and signature Haida formline designs. Each piece reflects the teachings, lineage, and cultural foundations that have guided my work. The show honours the Raven Clan of Yagulaanas and Yaku’jaanas, and the deep continuity of Haida identity carried through clothing.
The opening celebration in Juneau was filled with family, friends, and longtime supporters. Dr. Rosita Worl, director of Sealaska Heritage Foundation, opened the show with a powerful speech. She was my very first client — she literally bought the clothes off my back in 1986 at First Celebration in Juneau. And now, 40 years later, she has done it again. We laughed together, recognizing how perfectly Raven had woven this moment.
Dancers in regalia brought the space to life, honouring the exhibition with movement, song, and community presence. Visitors from across Alaska and beyond joined in celebrating with me. I hope you stop in the State Museum if your in Juneau or on a Cruise.
I will be giving a tour and signing my book on June 5 @ 3-5 PM Friday, museum is free that day.
